The visitors turned out in good numbers for the first weekend of the annual Kāpiti Arts Trail on November 7 and 8.

Despite overcast conditions on Saturday, the weather cleared on Sunday with crowds visiting artists, their galleries and their workshops.

Sales were encouraging as people continued to open their wallets after the Covid-19 lockdown, keen to support local businesses and artists.

Paula Archibald  was enjoying working in her gallery/workshop at her home in Bell Street as visitors came through.

“I’ve been on the Arts Trail for eight years now,” she said. “It’s well worth it. You get to meet and talk to a lot of people, and it’s great publicity.”

A total of 16 artists and galleries in the Ōtaki/Te Horo/Peka Peka region are participating this year.

The 2020 Kåpiti Arts Trail, now in its 20th year, is scheduled for two weekends, the second on November 14 and 15.
