Vince Bevan, Ōtaki All Black

Vincent David Bevan is believed to be the only All Black to have been born in Ōtaki.

He was born on December 24, 1921, and went to the Convent School in Ōtaki before moving to secondary school in Wellington. He’s not known to have played any games in Horowhenua-Kāpiti.

Vince played as a halfback for the All Blacks from 1947-54. He died in Wellington on May 26, 1996,  aged 74.  (More on Vince Bevan in the October 2018 issue.)
